Week Ending 13.10.23

Apple Pressing, Roman sandals and timelines

At Llangan we have had a very busy but successful week, beginning with children in year 3, 4 and 5 taking part in an apple pressing using apples from the school garden to make their own apple juice. The workshop was run by a number of local volunteers using a local community apple press. The pupils picked the apples from the school ground, washed them, and scratted them (crushed and chopped). Following this, the children put the pulp into a hydraulic press which pressed out the juice. The children got to taste the fresh apple juice and took a bottle home.

In maths, we have been learning about rounding up and applying our maths skills in addition and subtraction sums.  We also applied our numeracy and literacy skills when making caligae- Roman sandals and correctly ordering Roman events in a timeline.  In computing, we have been learning about data collection and in French we have started to learn different colours.
